Smiles Premium Dental Clinic

Smiles Premium Dental Clinic began with a radical question: how can a dental clinic feel like a cultural destination instead of a conventional medical facility? Designed by Wangan Studio in Ankara, the project reframes healthcare as a hospitality-led experience where wellbeing, art, and architectural quality are fully integrated. The free-plan layout alternates open zones with independent stone-clad volumes that provide privacy while preserving spatial continuity.

The core challenge was to meet strict clinical requirements while preserving a strong spatial identity. The grey natural stone "Ceppo di Gré" defines continuous floors, walls, and pathways, while black oak appears selectively on vertical surfaces to create rhythm and orientation.

Art is an integral part of the project, with permanent works and temporary exhibitions that expand the experience beyond its clinical function. Smiles proposes an advanced model of healthcare space in which technical performance, emotional comfort, and cultural identity operate as a single language.

The project won the Interior Design Best of Year Awards 2025 and the Archello Awards 2025 – Winner of the Year (Healthcare Building), and it is also among the winners of the German Design Awards 2026, in the Excellent Architecture – Interior Architecture, Public category.
