In the late 1930s, the Marini Giuseppe e Figli company was commissioned to supply the slabs for the cladding of the bases of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, on which the travertine equestrian monuments rest. The stone, extracted exclusively for this project, came from the Sellere quarry, located in the municipality of Sovere (BG), making the material a unique element deeply tied to the historicity and uniqueness of the work.
